Impact and Pressure

Overview

In Web Tree, value is measured by two primary metrics: Impact and Pressure. These metrics replace the traditional concept of currency. This system is designed to measure and incentivize positive contributions and discourage negative actions.

Impact

Impact represents the positive contributions a person or group makes within the Web Tree ecosystem. It could be through creating something valuable, helping others, solving problems, or positively impacting the community.

Examples of Positive Impact:

Mentoring a community member and helping them advance in their career. Developing a project or tool that benefits the community. Participating in and contributing to community initiatives.

Pressure

Pressure represents actions or behaviors that have a negative effect on the system. This could be actions that hinder progress, hoard resources, or negatively impact the community’s goals.

Examples of Negative Pressure

Using community resources without giving anything back. Disrupting other members’ progress or contributing to inefficiencies. Taking actions that go against the agreed rules of a community.

Influence

The net outcome of a person’s Impact and Pressure is called their Influence. A high Influence score means that a person is making significant positive contributions. Influence can be used to access resources, participate in decision-making, and earn rewards. Influence is dynamic and reflects ongoing contributions and behaviors.

Adaptive Metrics

Unlike traditional financial systems, Impact and Pressure are adaptive. If the community rules change, past interactions can be recalculated based on new rules, ensuring that the metrics evolve alongside the values and needs of the community.
